PUGET SOUND LIBERALS
Enhancing Freedom, Opportunity and Cooperation in Puget Sound and Beyond
- All Americans should have the same freedoms and opportunities.
- We are each responsible for protecting the freedoms and opportunities of all Americans.
- We and our government should be competent and compassionate, using our freedoms and opportunities wisely and helping those with fewer freedoms and opportunities than the rest of us.
- Our United States should be a cooperative member of our world's community of nations.
Having good values is not enough. Organized effective political action is necessary.
Our Vision is one million well informed Puget Sound Liberals acting effectively in cooperation to realize our values.
Our Mission is to inform our Liberals about our liberal values, historic struggles, policies, political strategies and organizing skills. And to enable them to identify, communicate, associate and cooperate with each other and with political, advocacy and caring organizations.
Our History: Forging an Educated Network of Liberal Activists
We initiated our Lake Hills Liberals Experimental Demonstration project in October, 2005. Within our one mile square neighborhood, we recruited members, stimulated 80 of them to display 'Proud Liberal, Time for a Change" yard signs and bumper stickers, began our weekly email newsletter and created our website. We organized various events, including block and house parties to enable neighbors to know each other for crime prevention, disaster response, and protecting and helping our children. We stimulated cooperation among our home owners and low rent apartment tenants.
In the summer of 2006, we canvassed 1200 households, adding 1000 likely Democratic voters to the 700 previously identified ones for a total of 1700. We stimulated them to vote, which helped elect our Democratic candidates. We picket to bring our troops home from Iraq; encourage our members to submit letters to newspapers and our political representatives, and sign petitions; and gather for watching campaign debates, election returns and presidential addresses. Our monthly Salon includes political presentations and discussions.
Our newsletter has been emailed for 100 consecutive weeks. It goes to 500 Lake Hills Liberals, 500 Democratic Party activists, and 1200 other Puget Sound Liberals. Our website provides basic training, resources for liberal political action, political action guides, tools for legislative districts, an archive of our newsletters and more.

Weekly Newsletter and Website
We have no regular monthly meetings, but occasional potlucks and a monthly salon, featuring fine food and discussion. Our action teams research and act. We have no dues, paying our expenses with member donations.
