Media are supposed to be watchdogs for democracy

Journalism is the only profession with special Constitutional protections. Those protections were granted in order that the media might act as watchdogs for democracy and inform the people when power has become perverted.

You are not doing your job. You are not reporting on the gross criminality of our president and vice president. You are not explaining to the citizens of this country the gross abuses of power committed by this administration. You are telling your readers the truth about the suspension of their rights. You are not telling your readers that the Constitution guarantees them the right to remove an abusive government.

Even when a joint memorandum for impeachment was filed in our state Legislature, it barely received mention. You failed to adequately address the role of the Democratic Party in shielding a criminal administration and undermining a powerful grass-roots movement for impeachment.

If you did the work you are supposed to be doing, you could not help but endorse immediate impeachment of Vice President Cheney and President Bush.

If you were doing your job, this story would be front page every day until Congress agreed to act.
